When The Universe Speaks

It wasn’t that long ago when I experienced a frightful trip to the emergency room after having some strange experience with my heart. I couldn’t breathe, and my heart physically hurt. One moment I was fine typing away on my computer and the next a strong pain wrapped itself around my whole middle like being cuffed with an iron belt. A couple of antacids didn’t make any of the pain go away. What was even more frightful was the fact that my left arm and lower jaw began to tingle.

Once I arrived at the ER, I was looked after by a polite gray haired doctor. His voice was soothing. The nurse on duty, hooked me up to a heart monitor, which began beeping immediately only to show my heart rate was below the normal. My blood pressure was low as well.

Now for me personally, I have had experience with many doctors but this one was different. We connected. Have you ever met people that you just seem to connect with in some weird kind of way? It was as if he knew me, it was as if he knew my whole life’s story without me saying a single word. The only thing I recalled mentioning to this doctor was the fact that the day before, I had been installing a wooden fence on our soon to be new home, and that I had to stop frequently due to being short of breath.

What the doctor said to me after this, caught my attention. I thought it was completely unusual. The doctor said I was using, “staying busy,” to compensate for not dealing with my real issues. Say what? How does he know I have real issues and what real issues is he talking about? My mind quickly went to the idea that somehow he was saying that being active was unhealthy which I have never even thought was possible. The doctor must have known my mind was wondering off, when he brought up the question of, “do I meditate?” Now how did he know that I had recently purchased meditation books? Again, I have never experienced a medical doctor refer to meditation as a form of healing.

This brings me to the point of this blog. As I sit here today, reviewing my life and recent events, I wonder if the universe is speaking to me? I would give it a definitive yes! I was right where I was suppose to be at that given time, to hear what I needed to hear. Honestly, I was in the process of giving those books away because I had become too busy to really focus on them. But maybe, the universe needs me to relax, needs me to heal, needs me to share with you, my experience so that you too can heal.

What activity do we use to avoid our own self healing? For some of us, perhaps its over working ourselves, for others it my be, shopping, while others perhaps its drowning ourselves into some tv program. I also know some people who spend their days focusing on other peoples problem to avoid their own. Do we take enough time out of our days, to really focus on healing from our past traumas, or even recent events? Do we even realize that we are all dealing with something, some sort of issues, that we need to work out in order to be complete and whole beings? Do we ever pay attention to what the universe is putting right in front of us in order to heal?

Just some questions I thought I would ask as I venture down my own path towards healing. I don’t know about you but I want to be a better version of myself everyday and in order to do this, I should really pay attention as to what the universe is speaking and do as she suggest. What a wonderful life I could have if I no longer suffered from depression and anxiety issues. What a wonderful life it would be to be whole again. What a wonderful life we all could have if we just took a few minutes out of our days to focus on healing ourselves…

Myrtle Beach South Carolina

Myrtle Beach

My vacation to Myrtle Beach South Carolina in 2020 was the first vacation I ever had as an adult. I had been here before, just once, when I was 9 years old. Something about returning to a place you have been to in your past seemed enticing. The oceans beauty which had captured my attention as a child still beckoned my soul.

The beach was better than I could remember, yet missing the overabundance of silver dollars that I remember collecting way back then. Matter of fact, not one silver dollar was found or seen during the two days spent on the beach. Only a mixture of small seashells and broken shells were located. Maybe silver dollar finds are only seasonal, I do not know, but you could purchase them at gift shops, some were real, while others were made out of some type of silver plating.

We had our rv with us, and by some miracle, my husband found us the perfect spot located within a small community within a few yards, literally from the ocean. The only thing that divided us from the ocean was a small retaining wall and an open sandy walk way which let the tide come in every morning. Nothing like opening your rv door and being surrounded by ocean water about a foot deep every day. The most interesting thing we discovered within this rv community, was that you could sign up to work in the gift shop or perhaps help do maintenance for the park, a few days a week and stay here for free. Sounds like a good retirement plan if you ask me. 😉

Now when it comes to food, and restaurants, be weary, looks can be deceiving. Our first stop was a seafood buffet place with all the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, but quite frankly, the food was well, a little too fishy for our liking. ;(

not the best food 🙁

However, we did find an amazing breakfast place that was so good, we kept going back too! Makes me hungry just looking at it again.

The scenery at Myrtle beach was beautiful. It was a beautiful place to revisit, and I am sure we will return soon again. Heck, we might even stay for a year if the offer at the rv park is still available. I hope you all get a chance to visit Myrtle Beach. One day, maybe the silver dollars will return, who knows. But Myrtle beach, will always have a special place in my heart. 😉

I hope you enjoyed a few of my pictures from my Myrtle Beach vacation. Their really was so much to see, and so much to tell, but being me, I decided not to share everything because I hope you go visit her for yourself. 😉 I suppose I’m just funny that way.

For The Birds!

brown bird flying towards birdhouse

Bird watching is an enjoyable relaxing hobby. When I was young I developed a deep love for birds. They always seemed so magical and entertaining to observe. When I was around 9 years old, my dad made me a birdhouse to place in our backyard, so that I could look out the window of my bedroom and watch it. I must have stood at the window for hours everyday watching a little blue bird make its nest, raise its babies, and fly away never to return again.

My grandmother had a love for birds as well. She had a little yellow canary that she named, Tweety. Every morning, Tweety would sing to her. She kept it in her living room in a beautiful cage. I would often help her clean the cage, and fill up its feeders, and gaze at it, as it took a morning bath. Tweety provided my grandmother with much companionship and entertainment in her later years.

Their are so many birds in the world. At one point in time I found myself raising Love Birds, finches, and cockatiels. I must say however, if you have young children, I would NOT recommend raising Love Birds in the home. Their is a reason why they are called Love Birds. 🙁 I personally found it Not appropriate for children to watch them mate.

As we get older in life, most of us tend to settle into our lives, and find more time for bird watching. Their are so many books available for just such a hobby. I use to have a very colorful book, beautifully photographed of all the many species of birds. Somehow it got lost over the years. 🙁

Among bird books, their are also bird feeders, and crafty birdhouses that you can make or purchase to place around your home. Their are even bird feeders that attach to your windows. Hummingbird feeders are very popular here in the United States, although it is recommended now that you skip the red color dye that people use to put in the sugar water.

So in conclusion, their is no better day than today to start a hobby bird watching.

I hope you find bird watching as entertaining as I do. Bird watching is a relaxing enjoyable hobby for any age. Please consider the elderly and disabled too, I have found, that bird watching provides them with comfort and eases the sense of being alone. It also does wonders for their personal health and helps keep them active!

Thank you I hope you enjoyed this blog!

Meet, My Dog, Gracie

Now who can resist, a precious sleepy time moment? Isn’t that when dogs are the most innocent? Meet my dog, Gracie! My how she has grown in just a short amount of time.

Today, I’m grateful Gracie is still with me. Gracie had a terrible time in June, when she ate a pair of my socks, and had to be vetted. After several days in the vet, a surgery, and lots of antibiotics, she survived. She did not eat for a week, though, and she was so grossly thin when I brought her home. But, with lots of love, and small meals to begin with, Gracie quickly sprung back to her old self, she filled back out, and continues to want to eat everything.

I wanted you all to meet Gracie, not just because she is so cute, but because if you stick around, you will find that I often refer to her in my writings. Having Gracie is the best thing I have done for myself, she seems to encourage me everyday without judging me. Gracie is adventurous and strong, and some times when I want to do absolutely nothing, I have to get up and take Gracie outside, which is very therapeutic for those of us who have depression.

Gracie is also taking me on a new adventure. I am currently trying to learn the in’s and out of the town city council, in order to establish a city wide dog park. I have never done such a thing as this. I moved to this small town in Oklahoma not to long ago, and adopted Gracie in March. I believe dogs as well as us humans need daily exercise, and so therefore I take her. The walks have been good for both our souls, but lately, there has been numerous big dogs running around loose. Every day it seems, my walks with Gracie are getting shorter and shorter, because we have to stay close to the house, and run inside to escape these loose dogs. I trust Gracie, but I do not trust dogs that run loose.

Gracie, looking out the window

So here I am today, pushing for a city wide dog park. I have picked up the paper work necessary to get this order on the agenda. I have spoken to the city manager, who thinks my idea is great, and much needed. The city manager now is suggesting I come up with a fund raiser to fund the project, say what? So, here I go to learn something I know nothing about. Here I go having to get out of myself and to interact with other people. Maybe, I will be great at it!

I will be posting more about this process as I learn it. If your bored with your life in your own community, try and think of ways you can add to it positively. I watched a tv program where a guy gave homeless people haircuts, now that’s awesome! Never stop learning, now that’s a big one! If you don’t like where you are, then change it! If you need someone in your life that will never judge you, get a dog, a rabbit, a hamster, or a plant!

Thank you all for stopping by and reading! Have a wonderful, blessed day!

Freedom Rodeo

Riding Bareback

I’ve had a wonderful time experiencing the 84th annual Freedom Oklahoma Rodeo! I believe it’s healthy for one’s soul to break away from the daily routine every now and then and to simply relax and experience life! Freedom Oklahoma is a very small town up in the northwestern part of the state. It is a very friendly town full of generous people.

I enjoyed watching the calf roping, the bareback riding and most of all the bull riding! I was fortunate enough to capture a few pictures and videos.

I’m grateful to see our flags flown and to see people cheer. No burning of flags here! And prayers for everyone and the contestants as well.

Beautiful horses

I hope you enjoyed this short little blog! My intentions are to provide you with some small town entertainment and to hopefully get you to take a break from your daily routine. Relax. Feed your soul!
