It’s been tuff living with someone who considers himself, Mr. Fix It, after all he is a contractor. The hardest part of everything is the way we communicate. I have had to re educate myself with a new kind of style and learn to bite my tongue when all I want to do is vent. I still struggle but their are a lot of men out there that do not understand how women communicate. A lot of men just want to FIX everything.
Take the book for example, Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus, this books explains this communication issue, far better than I could ever tackle. It is true though, its as if women and men are born from different planets. I am learning if I just need to vent its much easier if I call a woman. If I need something fixed, I just call upon a man, that is, if I can’t fix it myself.
Journaling has helped a lot. It takes the edge off my frustrations and it helps to see what my points really are. We can not help what is in our nature, women are nurturers and men are well, fixers. I wouldn’t change my husband for the world. I am glad that he is there to fix things. He is probably glad that while he is at work I am busy taking care of things like the laundry, house cleaning, etc. He is also pretty grateful that I too can fix things! 🙂
Just keep in mind, if you live with a Mr. Fix It, then learn better skills at communicating, and the difference on how men and women communicate effectively towards each other. If you need to vent, my suggestion is, find your women’s group or talk to your dog. My dog Gracie hears it all and she doesn’t try to fix anything! LOL.
Anyway, I just wanted to share some advice from my own personal experience. I hope it helps you as much as it has helped me.
I am blessed to be here and if my work is helping you in anyway all contributions are welcomed! Thank you in advance.
Thank you for your encouragement and support!
